New Product Obsession: Eye of Horus
Posted
In a world of mega overseas beauty brands and increasingly confusing – and questionable – ingredients lists, it’s rare to stumble upon a beauty brand that feels genuine, works incredibly well, and is grounded in sustainable formulations close to home.
Researching the latest beauty brand to hit Hairhouse I have stumbled on all the above, and more. Eye of Horus is an award-winning, Byron Bay–based beauty brand built on essential, cruelty-free, high-performance products… and officially my latest Australian beauty obsession.

The EoH Era Begins:
What began as a single mascara has quietly grown into one of Australia’s most sought-after luxury, cruelty-free beauty brands. Today, Eye of Horus spans skincare and colour cosmetics that feel nurturing, luxe and refreshingly uncomplicated.
So, what did they do differently?
Founder Holly Spierings puts it down to organic growth, a genuine respect for ingredients and listening to the consumer. “Eye of Horus was born very organically,” Holly tells me. “My background in naturopathy gave me a deep respect for ingredients and the way they interact with the body. But it was really the success of our very first mascara that showed there was a real gap in the market.” That gap? Makeup that performs beautifully without compromising ingredient integrity, comfort, or long-term skin health. “Women wanted high-performance makeup that was kind to both the body and the planet. That early response gave me the confidence to build an entire range around that philosophy.”
Why Eye of Horus Just Works
Founded in 2012, Eye of Horus has gone on to resonate with consumers who are more discerning than ever. “Our focus is on timeless essentials, conscious and refillable packaging, and formulas that genuinely perform,” Holly explains. “That’s where we feel most at home,” she adds, “and where we’ll continue to innovate.”
So, after diving deeper into the brand (and finally clearing out my makeup bag), here’s what I’ve discovered—and fallen for.
Six Reasons I’m Loving Eye of Horus
1. EoH is Proudly Australian
Created in the dreamy, eco-conscious enclave of Byron Bay, Eye of Horus reflects the clean-living, intentional lifestyle of its home. And honestly? There’s something about using a brand that makes you feel like you’re living your best, most mindful beauty life.
2. EoH is Clean
Inspired by ancient beauty rituals, Eye of Horus is cruelty-free, ethically sourced, vegan-friendly and made with 100% naturally derived ingredients.
3. EoH Keeps Beauty Simple
Eye of Horus began with Holly’s search for a mascara that wouldn’t irritate her sensitive eyes. With a background in organic skincare development, moving into cosmetics felt like a natural next step—and the response was immediate. That original mascara now holds iconic status and remains the cornerstone of a brand that delivers gentle, effective results across eyes, lips, cheeks and skin—without irritation.
4.EoH is Inspired by Ancient Rituals
The name Eye of Horus nods to ancient Egyptian beauty traditions—but with a distinctly modern execution. Formulas are infused with sacred waxes and oils like organic Moringa (the “oil of the pharaohs”), Hemp, Abyssinian and Pomegranate Oil. The result? Products that feel sensorial, grounding and timeless drawing on beauty’s original touchstone ingredients rather than fleeting trends. And yes, everything smells and feels incredible!
5.EoH is Seriously Conscious
Sustainability is woven through the brand with the entire range comprising of cruelty-free, paraben-free, gluten-free and harsh-chemical free ingredients. Most products are vegan, with the only animal-derived ingredient being certified, ethically sourced beeswax—used solely in the Goddess Mascara and Goddess Pencil.
Even the packaging tells a thoughtful story with:
- 10% glass packaging
- 43% PCR (post-consumer recycled) materials
6. EoH is Small-Batch and Award-Winning
Eye of Horus produces in small batches wherever possible, reducing waste and avoiding excess stock destined for landfill. It’s a refreshingly intentional approach in a world of overproduction. And yes—those beauty awards? Fully earned.
